Mayville volleyball announces "Battle of the Marsh"

Volleyball is coming to Ray Dunn Field.


Mayville volleyball announced it will host the "Battle of the Marsh: The Ultimate Showdown" on Aug. 26. The event will be a triangular with the Cardinals hosting Waupun and Horicon.


Teams will compete under the lights on a custom-built volleyball court in the middle of the football field.


Mayville coach Alan Capps said the event is intended to be a night that allows fans and communities to show school spirit.


"This event is about more than just volleyball," Capps said in a press release. "It's a celebration of our school, our community and our athletic programs. We're thrilled to bring together fans of all ages to witness a night of thrilling competition and school pride."


Mayville will host Waupun at 5:30 p.m. and Horicon at 7:45 p.m. with Waupun and Horicon playing in between.


According to the release, Mayville will also offer other family-friendly activities, food and beverages, and raffles. They also hope to connect with and recognize Cardinal alumni at the event.


The program has opportunities for local businesses and organizations to show support, offering sponsorship packages in exchange for exposure at the event. Interested businesses are encouraged to contact Capps at acapps@mayville.k12.wi.us .


According to the release, Mayville volleyball hopes the event brings together "athletes, families, alumni and fans from across the area to celebrate the spirit of high school sports and community pride."
