Coach Tyler Geisthardt had the proverbial "monkey on his back" coming into Omro's game against WLA.

Geisthardt had yet to beat WLA since taking the head job at Omro in 2020. He broke the streak Monday night.

That win came in dominant fashion, 48-33, with yet another big game from the Foxes' usual suspects, one of which being junior Ava Koch, who had 22 points paired with stellar defense, racking up a couple of steals.

Omro’s intensity was the key factor from tip to final buzzer; it poured into a productive press featuring Koch and senior Shayli Carter.

Geisthardt said it was the best that his team had looked in that press all year.

“We knew without us having size, that we would have to beat teams a different way” Geisthardt said. “We take pride in the defensive end of the floor.”

During their 10-game winning streak, Omro has given up 40 or more points just twice. The Foxes gave up 41 in their win at Berlin and 40 in the home win against Lomira.

They held the Vikings (5-4 overall, 2-3 in Flyway) to less than 40 points, a benchmark Geisthardt said he believes is the goal for winning games.

“If we can consistently hold teams under 40, we [have] a really good chance of winning,” Geisthardt said.

Omro (11-2, 4-1) did not allow a single Viking to go into double digits.

The Vikings had a brief lead early, but watched it slip out of their hands around the 12-minute mark of the first half and were never able to gain the game back in their hands.

Jill Pinno led WLA with 9 points.
