Noah Moul hit a 3-pointer from the right side about the 10:00 mark of the first half on Friday night.
St. Mary's Springs never looked back.
The Ledgers used depth and intensity to beat Mayville 85-56 and stay unbeaten in the Flyway.
“Scoring is not one of our strengths," coach Kyle Krueger said. "I think we’re a better defensive team than offensive team this year, but today, things were clicking.”
Springs (6-1 overall, 3-0 in Flyway) was fueled by a 23-point performance from senior Emmit Huhn.
Huhn, Moul and Ben Anderson all finished in double-figures. Moul and Anderson finished with 18 and 11, respectively.
Krueger said he is used to this type of depth. He said that during his time coaching, the teams he’s been a part of have been balanced.
“We rarely have had somebody average over 18 points,” Krueger said. “We’ve got a lot of guys you know in that 10-15 range, maybe even that 10-17.”
Springs also did a phenomenal job of keeping the energy high all night, despite leading by a large amount.
Mayville (2-5, 0-3) struggled to get anything going against the strong Ledgers defense. The only sustained run the Cardinals went on was 11-3 and they still trailed by 16.
Junior Talan Meyer finished 16, seniors Joren Schlender and Austin Thoreson finished with 10 and 9, respectively.
